Diamicron XR MEX 60/500mg is a combination oral anti-diabetic medicine used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.It contains Gliclazide 60mg (extended-release) and Metformin 500mg. Gliclazide works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin, helping lower blood sugar levels especially after meals. Metformin works by reducing glucose production in the liver, decreasing sugar absorption from the intestine, and improving the body’s response to insulin.The XR (extended-release) formulation allows the medicine to release slowly over time, providing smoother and longer-lasting blood sugar control throughout the day. It is usually taken with food to reduce stomach upset and lower the risk of low blood sugar.
